For this article, I wanted to change the tone from my previous personal posts Tearing Down Fences: Exposing Your Emotions To Bring Your Own Healing and My Funny Valentine: Continuing to Love at 31 about healing and re-focus it to lighter pieces. However, a part of me still felt the need to discuss healing again, specifically for my women readers. Why? I’m not sure but obeying the spirit is what I will do in prayer that this article reaches who it needs to.
Two weeks ago, I was in search for a christian based woman’s group/movement that I can become a part of. I somehow stumbled upon Virtuous Women Lounge Network, (V.W.L.N) and knew it was God’s doing! What sold me on becoming a member was being a part of its 40 day Spiritually Fit For Life Empowerment Journey. Within this 40 day movement the mission stated, “we focus on strengthening the whole person to awaken our awareness of the fulfillment of God’s promises in our relationships, health, career and lifestyle of true worship.” That was my personal journey as well! Within these past few months, I have been working on healing in regards to the acceptance of where and who I am within myself, career, love life, friendships; as well as still praying for a physical healing on my voice disorder. As I felt progress and restoration taking place in those areas, I could also feel there were still some hindrances that I needed guidance in. I had a chance to speak with the Founder and Christian Life Empowerment Coach of V.W.L.N, Johniece Johnson aka Lady Joy, for a complimentary private session and it was such a blessing to me! (It’s something about when women brainstorm together and the focus, vision and purpose is to live under God and apply His Word– things begin to change).
I started our conversation asking for a special prayer request for one thing and ended our conversation realizing there was so many action items I still needed to do first before that prayer request could be answered by God. Below are 7 things that resonated for me from our conversation that may also help you through your own spiritual healing:
-
Understand All Healing is a Process. Healing in different areas in your life is more than just the physical, emotional, and mental. It is also understanding that you may need healing in areas such as: trust, discipline, self-control, regaining hope, to love again, it is all a process. James 1:2-3
-
Change Your Focus/Change Your Thought. What we choose to focus on gains strength. Ephesians 4:23-24
-
Remain in Him. Meditate on John 15 for a week and watch how it resonates to you differently each day.
-
Worry Less. “When we worry, we are not fully committed to God”- Lady Joy Matthew 6:25-34
-
Rest in His presence. I told Lady Joy that I have just been TIRED. I have been over-exerting myself as I try to balance my own life and still called to pour into others, but she stated “anything we do has to be done from the overflow. If we are empty we will become depleted. We have to become what we minister.”
Ask yourself: What does resting in God look like for you? What would your life look like once you start doing so? John 15:7
-
Know your season. Journaling helps you chronicle and look back at what areas the enemy comes to attack you the most. Habakkuk 2:2
-
Fall in love with the Word. Your anointing comes from within the identity of who you are in Christ. In order to identify who you are, you must first identify who God is. The ultimate healing is and will always be the Living Word. Hebrews 4:12; Prov. 18:21, Proverbs 4:7 , John 4:24, Isaiah 61
Any area the enemy attacks you in, God’s going to anoint you in. – Lady Joy
