Positive Affirmations: I Got The Keys

Today’s Positive Affirmation :
(Say this out loud)
My voice sounds different than others.
My grind is different than others.
My love looks different to others.

Because My Calling is different than others.

So I brag different than others.
I am human, and with flaws and all
God still loves me.
I am worthy to be loved.
I am enough.
I’m doing the best with what I have
And although I may not always understand it;
And although my bank account may not always reflect it,
This Journey, is my own.
And that is okay with me.
I trust Gods will for me.
For you are my lamp Oh, Lord.
Continue to guide my feet.

When we go through life’s challenges and become so engulfed in our own frustrations, disappointments, heartache and discouragements, it’s hard to see the bigger picture inside the frame. But Gods end goal is bigger than our own understanding. We say we believe God will work things out but do we really BELIEVE or are we just playing make believe? Meaning, does our actions, desires, and plans show that we truly trust Gods will OR does our actions reflect us still trying to fix things ourselves? The answer to that question reflects in the level of your exhaustion.

Has your body been telling you to rest but instead you book more trips to travel to or you get an off day from work but you still pile on more work for you to do? I was the recipient of this type of exhaustion, but because I’ve heard cliche quotes like: Go hard or Go home, Nobody ever drowned in their own sweat, don’t pray for lighter burdens but for stronger backs; it became my motivator to keep going. Yes, these quotes suggest good work ethic but you also have to look at your own reality. When you are constantly under spiritual attack, you barely have time to read your word, you feel stagnant watching your peers lives flourish in ways you thought your life should go, and at times; you forget what you were working so hard for in the first place! For me? I went searching for answers for balance, peace of mind and clarity hoping God would reveal these answers on my journey to a different country, a change in atmosphere or within the pressure of me trying to work harder. Yet, God put a halt to my plans as I learned that God wanted me to be still, work smarter, not harder.

For, Matthew 11:28-30 says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Romans 8:18 also says,  I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

As you seek the keys to success or just life in general, it is more than just finding balance. We rarely emphasize the importance about learning who we are, where we are, and taking a step back to assess what parts of the puzzle and/or external factors can fit into your schedule based on what you know of yourself. Listening to your body and having a sense of self is not only vital but speaks to having self-care.

I implore you to meditate on what being still would look like for you. In counseling, we teach clients different ways to do this through the use of a term called mindfulness. By definition, it is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. Achieving this state of mindfulness may look different to others. It could be journaling your fears that are holding you back, going to your prayer room, self-reflecting on the patterns you noticed about yourself that you would like to change, yoga, deep breathing excercises, memorizing certain scriptures that will help you when you feel anxious, alone , or need comfort.

When you take the time to be still and look within, it may expose insecurities, your gifts, your happiness; they are all at your disposal. The world is yours, you just have to decide what to do with it!

When you say the affirmation I gave you in the beginning of this blog, I’m suggesting that you reframe what success looks like. Not through the eyes of someone else’s lifestyle or journey, but through what God has already shown you about yourself. When you start to go astray and complain on what you don’t have, reassess and ask yourself is the absence of what I’m complaining about Gods priority or mine? Having a heart of gratitude on what you do have, will reposition your perspective. By doing this, by default, will show how to achieve the fruit of : love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

God’s will for your life is limitless. If you want to explore the world, first explore and unlock the world that’s inside of you. By being a child of God, YOU have the keys to do so!
