A Secret Treasure

                                    *Testimonial*

So I have been bringing my Bible to work every day for the past 6 months i’ve been there. It’s like my cell phone, I don’t leave home without it. I bought a NIV extensive Study Bible around Thanksgiving time and have been bringing that one every day. The Study Bible I have been bringing is heavy and not really that portable due to its bulk; so I decided that I would bring one of my smaller versions to work. Without really thinking, I grabbed a small purple Bible off of my book shelf and left the house.

On the outside of this purple bible, it looks worn, dirty and marked up but it is not broken or useless. like we are “hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8,9

I started to think back to a time that I had a Bible growing up and I could not. As I open the cover, the date written, in my handwriting says, 9-30-2011. This was the first Bible I had ever purchased/owned. I remember being excited that day for some unknown reason; and as I purchased it, it felt like I had found some secret treasure. Under the date, there was a verse printed that read, “For we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 1 Corinth 4:18.

Now I see that God was preparing me for the most life altering event that was to take place exactly 7 days later, the ending of my relationship. God provided me with the only thing he knew would sustain me through it. His Word. I am here to let you know, He will never bring you to a place that he will not provide protection and a way out. He was directly preparing me for this journey telling me not to be consumed by what life’s situations “look” like in the natural, [ the things that are seen], but to look at the things he has promised to come, things that are unseen.

It is the first bible I have ever owned, and it was the first bible my daughter tried to read.

It is worn, dirty, and has flowers on the front. But what is on the inside is far more valuable than it’s appearance and is more precious than what is seen on the outside, the Word of my Father. I now own 12 Bibles with 6 different versions, and what’s most important is that the word is written in my heart.

To many the Bible is an unknown, mysterious, a secret treasure. Sometimes the only Bible a person will know is a christian and their lifestyle. So we must share the gospel by any means, and if neccessary, use words.

-Be Blessed
