So where do we as Christians have the right to step in to say “No,” if it says in the Bible that we cannot judge? How do we take a stand for God without appearing judgmental to our peers? How do we take a stand when our close long-time friends are in disagreement of what God says to be Truth? Is it because there are commercials with your favorite celebrity supporting a certain belief to persuade you that it is, ok? Is your friendship or a relationship with a person contingent on your response to a belief, value or cause? We have to know that it is not “us” who are taking the stance yet it is God who created the stance, hence therefore, as Christians, we standby for what is written. We cannot say Lord I am with you all the way except for when it comes to ________ (fill in the blank). I think upholding a moral code of OUR need for justice, equality or ethics can take precedence in our hearts and mindset as what we define as a good deed or “serving the greater good,” however it alters and dilutes God’s demand for holiness and principality. We are not put here on earth to pacify the word or tip-toe around the truth for others.
Does this mean act in an ill manner way towards our colleagues or sever all ties because someone is in disagreement? Absolutely not, that is not reality; everyone will not be in agreement of what you say but the beautiful thing about taking a stance of the Word is that people are not in a disagreement with “YOU” but with God so don’t take it personally. The scripture below answers that pivotal place where we disconnect and distance ourselves from “judging others”.
Romans 1:24-25 “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen.
In the NIV Application Study Bible it explains this scripture by saying that people can chose the right to reject God’s laws. “God does not usually stop us from making choices that are against his will. He lets us declare our supposed independence from him, even though he knows that in time we will become slaves to our own rebellious choices.” And if those choices or desires are out of the will of God, then there is no benefits or equality of something that is not in the will of God.
With that being said, once we have told someone of God’s standard of truth, it is up to that person to decide what they want to do with that information. Our job is to evangelize, God’s job is to rectify. In anything we do, we are to do it in a loving way and to ask ourselves “When I conveyed my message did I do it out of love and to honor God or did I do it with the intentions of tearing down another person?” Where there is no glory of God, there is no honor in your actions. You never know who you can influence, impact or will come to you for support when those choices comes back full circle.
So if you ask me, what is my stance on certain issues or topics that are in the World today? My only reply is that: I stand for the choices, justice and equality of what is ordained and under the will of God. Analyze and dissect the Word for yourself and pray that God gives you a spirit of discernment that will direct you to the Truth. God Bless!
